The Slow Life Workshops
Slow, hands-on workshops designed as a pause from everyday life.
At The Slow Life Towcester, workshops are not about perfection or performance. They are about taking time, using your hands, and enjoying the simple pleasure of making something in a calm, welcoming space.
Whether you come on your own or with a friend, our workshops offer a gentle break from the rush — unhurried, friendly and beginner-friendly.
The kind of workshops we host
Our workshops change with the seasons and are always designed to feel approachable and enjoyable.
You might find sessions such as:
- Creative craft workshops
- Gentle, decorative projects
- Seasonal makes and slow creative activities
Each workshop is carefully chosen to suit our space and our community — calm, thoughtful and focused on the joy of making.
What to expect
- Small, relaxed groups
- No prior experience needed
- A calm, welcoming atmosphere
- Hands-on, tactile activities
- A slow pace — nothing rushed
- Time to enjoy the process, not just the result
- Drinks, conversation and a warm, informal setting
You don’t need to be creative.
You don’t need to be “good at it”.
You just need to show up.
A space to slow down
Workshops take place in carefully chosen local spaces in and around Towcester, selected for their calm atmosphere and welcoming feel. Groups are intentionally small, creating a relaxed environment where everyone feels comfortable.
This is not a classroom.
It’s a table, some materials, time to focus — and permission to slow down.
Our first workshop: Indian Block Printing
A slow introduction to hand printing on fabric
Indian block printing is a centuries-old craft that is beautifully simple and deeply calming.
Using hand-carved wooden blocks and fabric paint, you’ll create your own printed textile piece – one stamp at a time.
The rhythm is slow.
The process is forgiving.
Every piece turns out unique.
You will:
- learn the very basics of block printing
- experiment freely with patterns and placement
- create a finished fabric item to take home
No prior experience needed.
No artistic talent required.
🤍 Who these workshops are for.
-
🤍 A gentle pause
For women who feel mentally busy or overstimulated and long for a moment of calm – without expectations.
-
✋ Hands, not pressure
For those who want to create with their hands without pressure, performance, or the need to be “good at it”.
-
🌿 Slow by design
For anyone craving a pause – not another commitment. No talent needed. Just the wish to slow down.

🌾 A note from Cécile, Founder of The Slow Life
This space was created for moments like these. A table, a cup of tea, quiet conversation, and the pleasure of making something by hand.
You’ll leave with a finished piece – but more importantly, you’ll leave feeling a little lighter.
